Peter Walsh has a degree in Piano Performance from The Australian Institute of Music in Sydney and a Diploma in Piano Performance from Racconiggi, Italy. He is a highly active and sought after pianist, accompanist and teacher, and has recently become an author in the field of music pedagogy.
In recent years, Peter has reached a status in piano teaching that has resulted in numerous invitations for him to give masterclasses and adjudicate examinations to piano soloists and chamber musicians in the Open Academy programme and the chamber music programme at the Sydney Conservatorium high school of music; programmes that attract the elite of Australia’s young musicians. Many of Peter’s students have been recipients of awards in piano competitions throughout Sydney, some of which who were showcased in an all-Chopin recital that took place in Sydney in May 2013, raising money for Alzheimer’s Australia.
In July 2013, Peter was invited to teach and perform at the Bougy music camp for young musicians held in Allaman, Switzerland.
Concurrent to giving masterclasses, teaching, and performing in the various capacities of soloist, chamber musician and accompanist, Peter has recently published “The Non-Musicians Guide to Parenting a Piano Player.” A step by step guide, written in a language accessible to the non-musician, covering the essential areas of parenting a piano player. The book has received rave reviews:

“Recommended” Frances Wilson ~ London based pianist, piano teacher, music and art reviewer under the nom de plume, The Cross-Eyed Pianist.
“Peter Walsh has a fresh approach and a unique way of saying things that are thought provoking. An excellent piano resource, one which I highly recommend” ~ Piano Discoveries, California.
