Diploma of Music at UTAS, Grade 8 AMEB Violin exam, Grade 4 Theory exam
For anyone interested in learning or continuing Violin lessons or interested in being tutored music theory for Year 12 Musicianship and/or sitting music theory exams; either on a short-term or long-term basis.
My name is Rachel and am in my early 20s however I’ve been playing the violin for 17 years and have been teaching the last four years. I have no strict way or teaching and thus like to adapt the lessons to the student. I’ve had many beginner students, students who have some experience and interested in sitting AMEB exams as well as a few students between the age of 55 to 70 years old who are simply interested in learning something new.
I’d like to say I don’t restrict my teaching to just AMEB (Australian Music Examination Board) or Suzuki methods, however if the student and or parent are most interested in a specific method or following AMEB exams then I’m more than happy to teach a student that way.
I do like students to be well rounded and I like to make sure my students learn good technique from the start so unlike me don’t have to spend years fixing up bad mistakes. Music is such a beautiful thing to learn or understand and I love to try and share my musical experience with my students and teach how to really understand music from an emotional as well as a logical perspective.
A few of my other qualifications include:
5 years of Attending Australian Youth Orchestra programs
10 years of being an Adelaide Youth Orchestra Member
Grade 8 AMEB Violin completed over 5 years ago with Grade 5 Musical Theory
3 years attending Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute programs
Diploma of Music studies at UTAS
3 years of experience in Musical Theatre and Fringe shows Participlation in the Elder Conservatorium of Music ensembles
