Richard has developed his own curriculum for the electric bass (with a method book available for students) which focuses on technique, aural training, sight reading, in depth song analysis, harmony knowledge and repertoire development. Each lesson is tailored to the students specific needs, skill level and interests, with fun and enjoyment being the top priority.
“My teaching aims to simplify seemingly complex concepts, and encourage students to approach playing music intuitively, with an open mind and positive attitude. My main objective is to teach my students how to practice, as this is where the real learning takes place. If a student knows how to practice effectively, gradual improvement is virtually guaranteed, and this insures motivation levels are maintained.”
“My lessons strike a balance between fun and hard work. I am proud of my curriculum, which draws upon over 6 years of professional experience and formal study. All information presented in my curriculum is applied through carefully designed practical exercises, and of course by consistent study and practical application of classic bass lines.”
