MComp Composition For Screen, BA Music Production
I am a composer for film and TV currently living in Alphington, Melbourne. Born in North Yorkshire, England, I grew up playing piano and guitar and went on to study Music Production at Leeds College of Music, and more recently undertook a postgraduate course in Composition For Screen at the Royal College of Music, London. Living in London gave me a wealth of experience including working at composition studios and writing with Dru Masters for TV shows such as ‘Bear Grylls: Escape From Hell (Discovery Channel) and ‘The Taste’ with Nigella Lawson (Channel 4).
Since moving to Melbourne in 2013 I have really enjoyed meeting new people in the industry as well as continuing to collaborate with people internationally writing music for adverts, short films, animations and music libraries. I also have many sound design credits including working on an advertising campaign for the NSPCC in the UK, short animations and company idents.
After spending many years learning my craft I know first hand how hard it is to write and produce music. I would like to help anyone who wants to achieve this by passing on the knowledge I have acquired.
Areas in which I specialise:
Composition For Film… constructing cues, choosing tempos, matching emotion to scene, using sequencers such as Logic, Cubase or Pro Tools.
Music Production… creating a highly polished professional quality mix by giving direction on how to use EQ, compression, reverb and effects.
Music Technology… the mic to speaker signal chain, using hardware such as interfaces or mixing desks and connecting these with your computer and software, plus using the software.
Piano/guitar… I am proficient in both and use these to record parts for my projects so any beginners looking to learn just get in touch. All ages welcome.
