Rodrigo Tabare studied guitar under renown Latin Jazz guitarist Daniel Bertolone. His thirst for knowledge led him to study the work of Frank Gambale, Allan Holdsworth and Derryl Gabel. His global perpective keeps him on the cutting-edge. Rodrigo’s sound is fresh and current – attracting session work from Sweden, United States and South America.
Rodrigo’s extensive experience ranges from contemporary settings to modern improvised music. Best known for his blistering technique and use of 8 string guitars, he is one of Australia’s most impressive guitar players. As one of the first Extended Range Guitar players in Australia, Rodrigo is consistently answering requests on online forums for his instructional materials. His video clips are regularly cited as a reference point for extended range guitarists.
A passionate teacher, Rodrigo has a love of guitar and a unique, comprehensive, approach to music tuition at all levels. He finds joy in guiding students through their musical journey. Apart from private tuition, Rodrigo has also facilitated larger groups of young musicians in a variety of master-classes and community projects.
Rodrigo has performed and recorded with many Australian and international artists including The Potbelleez, Jacky Orszacsky, The Alnighters, Canario Luna and Eduardo Da Luz. He has also worked with groups such as Akinga, Dancing The Streets – The Motown Tribute Show, Just George – The Australian George Michael Show, Voodoo HiFi and his own Jazz/ Fusion group, Lizard.
Rodrigo teaches: AMEB CPM Guitar Levels 1 – 4, HSC preparation and perfomance, Improvisation, Composition, Musicianship, Band Workshops and Extended Range(7 & 8 string) Guitar Techniques.
