For eager drum students wanting to broaden their horizons and develop a better understanding of the drums in relation to their preferred genres. I will help you reach your drumming goals.
“Rohan Moore has played drum set since childhood, taking an early interest in contemporary music, then later burrowing into Jazz and a plethora of world music genres.Rohan has had the opportunity to play gigs with John Mackey (Ray Charles, Charles Mingus, BB King), Hugh Barrett (Chris Potter, Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra), Tate Sheridan, and many others. Rohan actively composes original music, and has led many bands including his originals group at numerous gigs, predominately around the Canberra area while studying at the ANU School of Music in 2011 and 2012, under the acclaimed Mark Sutton (Bennie Maupin, James Muller, Mike Nock, etc). While living in NYC and researching the underground jazz scene there, Rohan studied extensively with drummer and composer Ari Hoenig, and has also had one-off lessons with legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb (Miles Davis), pianist/composer Shai Maestro (Avishai Cohen), Australian drumming grandmaster Simon Barker, and National Jazz Award winner Tim Firth, amongst others. Rohan has been teaching drum set since the high school days, and looks forward to taking on fresh and knowledge-hungry students in Melbourne while continuing his tertiary education under drummer David Beck and the faculty at the Monash School of Music.”
“In recent years Rohan has furthered his studies at the prestigious Australian National University and also established a successful teaching practice in the Nation’s capital. Please accept my highest recommendation for Rohan Moore both personally and professionally … a young Australian musician with not only remarkable talent, but of sound and reliable character.”
Mark Sutton (Wynton Marsalis, Bennie Maupin, James Muller); Drum tutor at ANU School of Music.
“In my 25 years of teaching, Rohan Moore is one of the best drum students I’ve ever had the pleasure of teaching.
His level of commitment to his craft, matched with his genuine talent, has led to achieving excellent results as a drummer and composer. Most impressive to me is his willingness to endorse the importance of music in our culture and higher education. He took on a leading role to battle for the continued support for Music at the ANU in 2012. I wholeheartedly recommend him for any professional roles in the music business.”
