Based in Melbourne, Roman is passionate about teaching and sharing his musical knowledge with the aspiring horn players. He currently teaches the French Horn at the University of Melbourne, Monash University as well as privately. Roman had also tutored players of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, Malaysian Youth Orchestra and the Australian Youth Orchestra.
He holds Masters’ Degree from Rice University (USA) where he studied with William VerMeulen on full scholarship. Prior to going to the US, Roman received his Bachelor of Music (honours) from the University of Melbourne under the tutelage of Geoff Collinson and Barry Tuckwell.
As orchestral player, Roman has performed as guest Principal Horn with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia, Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. He has also been a guest performer with Sydney Symphony and has held the position of acting Principal 3rd horn with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Roman is a two-time participant of the Pacific Music Festival in Japan where he performed and toured with the PMF Orchestra, and played in chamber music concerts with Principal members of the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic and major U.S. orchestras.
Roman had appeared as a soloist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and recorded a solo recital for the ABC classic FM. His other solo appearances include concerto performances with Stonington Symphony Orchestra, Zelman Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne University Orchestra and Western Australian Youth Orchestra.
