AmusA Violin, Grade 8 AMEB Piano, B.Mus(Hons)(QCGU), GradDipEd(Secondary)(UQ)
I completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours majoring in violin performance at the Queensland Conservatorium in 2009. Last year I completed a Graduate Diploma of Education specialising in classroom and instrumental music teaching at the University of Queensland. I am currently teaching strings at several state schools in Maryborough. I have a strong interest in Pedagogical methods, particularly the ideas involved with the Suzuki method. I feel it is important to take a well-rounded approach to musical education and aim to develop the overall musicality of students through combining aural, visual and kinesthetic learning techniques. I have experience in many genres including classical, world music, jazz and improvisation and was a member of the Conservatorium’s World Music Ensemble during my degree. I have also led the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and participated in an internship with The Queensland Orchestra. I believe in student-directed learning which allows the student to have significant input into the style of music they play and how they chose to learn.
