Sarah Hirst completed a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Teaching (Hons) in 2001 and since then has taught classroom music and directed choirs in primary and secondary schools across Melbourne and Ballarat. She has conducted the Australian Youth Choir and performs as a vocalist in a variety of projects.
Sarah has a passion for preparing young musicians for today’s music industry. Her students develop as well-rounded musicians with the ability to participate in a variety of music-making environments. They discover their own unique sound and are given opportunities to improvise, compose their own music and create their own performances. They develop skills in using music technology to aid their own musical growth in self expression and skills advancement.
Sarah ensures that young voices are carefully nurtured and vocal techniques are taught for sustainable singing. Older singing students develop the technical skills to sing in a variety of styles. Singing students are offered the opportunity to learn how to accompany themselves on piano, keyboard and/or ukulele.
Sarah’s lessons are creative, fun, positive and planned carefully to meet the individual needs of each student.
Group lessons are offered where available and are an excellent option for younger students. Lessons vary in length from 30 mins to 1.5 hours to suit your budget.
