cott has built his reputation as a soloist, professional accompanist, chamber musician, and piano teacher. He is studying Master of Music (Performance) in the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. He was born in Shanghai into a musical family: both of his parents are graduates of Shanghai Conservatorium of Music.
Scott started learning the piano from 4 years old and showed early talent. He completed the highest grade in piano examination held by the Shanghai Musician Association. He passed with distinction at the age of 10 and performed in the association concert. In 2003, he reached the final round the Hong Kong International Piano Competition. In 2005, he completed the performance degree newly founded by Shanghai Musician Association and won 2nd place at the Ziyi Shanghai International Piano Competition.
Scott moved to Australia with his family in 2008. He finished high school in Adelaide and moved to Melbourne in 2012 to complete his Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. He was taught by Russian Pianist Igor Machlak and is currently learning with Professor Ian Holtham, Head of Piano at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Scott frequently performs in public as soloist or with his piano trio. He won the Music Lovers’ Society H.A. Owen Award in 2014 and held the prestigious Phyllis Judd / Therese de Kretser Scholarship 2015 which he again won in 2016.
