I am a dedicated and passionate violin teacher and musician and teach students of all ages and levels. I specialise in providing sound technical skills and overall musicianship.

I focus primarily on the AMEB syllabus as a means of classical education. However, if the student expresses a desire to learn some modern material, this can be incorporated once technique, posture, ability to adequately read music and sound intonation skills are developed.

I have had numerous students begin with me that had previously learnt the Suzuki Method and their transition to the more traditional method of the classical AMEB syllabus was done with ease.

The importance of learning and mastering correct technique is focused upon early and regularly developed with time, to ensure the most effective methods are adopted in order to aid skilful, musical playing. Also, a strong sense of musical appreciation is fostered by encouraging students to actively listen to violin music, as well as instilling in them the development of a critical awareness of all aspects of their playing.

Additionally, I encourage my students to sit for AMEB exams, as this assists with their more rapid progression as a violinist, encourages greater focus and concentrated practice, gives them something to aspire to and instills greater confidence in their ability to perform in front of others. In preparing students for exams, a thorough understanding of aural training, theory and general knowledge, as well as sound sight reading skills is built upon.

I specialise in child and adult learning and tailor lessons accordingly.

I have previously been employed as string teacher and conductor at Penleigh Essendon Grammar School, Eltham College, Kew High School and Genazzano College and have many years of private teaching experience.

Lessons are conducted at my home studio in Kew and range in duration from half an hour to an hour. Generally, younger and inexperienced learners are encouraged to initially begin lessons for half an hour until they are capable of longer lessons of 3/4 hour to an hour.

Older, or more experienced players are encouraged to attend lessons for a duration of an hour. Duration of lesson times are obviously negotiable and tailored to the individual needs of the student.
