Steve Meyer holds a Bachelor of Music from the Sydney Conservatorium and graduated with the highest mark in his year for performance. As a performer has worked with many of Sydney’s leading ensembles including the Australia Opera and Ballet Orchestra, The Sydney Chamber Orchestra, The Sydney Opera House Orchestra, contemporary ensemble Halcyon and The Stables Quartet. In 2007 Steve was invited to play for the 21 world leaders of the APEC forum. In 2009 he gave the world premier performance as soloist in Mark Oliveiro’s Cyan Echo II for cello and string orchestra with the Bourbaki Ensemble. In November 2010 he will appear as soloist with Orchestra 143 in Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C.
As a teacher Steve has over 16 years experience teaching students of all ages and levels. His students consistently achieve high results and several have continued on to study music at a tertiary level. Steve has taught at the Sydney Conservatorium High School, Kamabla School, Scots College and the Music Practice. He is currently welcoming new students in his studio in Pyrmont.
