So you’ve sat in a smoky dive somewhere and listened to the smooth melodies of the sax, bass, trumpet, piano, drums… The phrases that drip from Duke Ellington’s fingers make you swoon, Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald all feature in your CD collection… and now you want to join in. Playing your instrument in a band is easy with All That Jazz.
If you can perform simple melodies or basic chords on your instrument and you understand what 4 beats in a bar means; or you may have learned standard ‘classical’ techniques and now want to extend your skills by learning how to improvise and play jazz – then this is the course for you.
All That Jazz will give you an opportunity to play and improvise a variety of standard jazz and blues tunes and to improve your instrumental and ensemble performance skills. Your improvisation skills will improve and you will be able to lead and accompany others is an ensemble setting – just perfect for that smoky dive!
If you want to play Jazz, but have not quite mastered your instrument – a few terms of Seriously Saxophone, With Two Hands, Beginner Guitar or Clarinet a Capella will give you enough ability to do this course.
