It could well be the coolest instrument of them all. There’s just no way the sax can be anything else – they don’t write stodgy, starched parts for an instrument that’s the aural equivalent of a dark room, a scotch and a soft pack of cigarettes. Now the point is, if Lisa Simpson can do it, with an estimated age of 8 and a very unsympathetic home environment, then you can.
The sax isn’t much of a solo instrument but if you’ve never played you’ll want to give yourself at least a term before you join the local big band or our own jazz group. A term should see you reading elementary music and working your way around some basic tunes with notes that are clear and confident.
Jazz Saxophone
If you have had some degree of saxophone tuition and want to jazz up your skills, then this is the course to do!
All That Jazz
You’ll get some practice at ensemble playing in your group but we’d suggest you enrol in All That Jazz. Click on the title for more information about playing Jazz with a group.
Contact Us
If you’ve played before you’ll need to speak to us so we can assess your probable skill level and place you in with a group that’s about the same. Talk to us too if you’ve played before and would like to enrol straight away in All That Jazz.
Instruments
If you have an instrument bring it along. If it’s not working we can advise you what to do and where to go to have it fixed. If you don’t have an instrument we can help you to hire and purchase.
We recommend contacting Frank Fordham Music at the Music Mega Store.
Mention that you are a student of The Music Practice, and you will certainly be looked after!
