The Violineri has been much-loved by Melbournians for more than a quarter of a century, both for its ambience and for its friendly and personalised service.
The shop was first established in 1986 by Brenton Fyfield in Bridge Road, Richmond. In 2012, Brenton relocated the business to 979 Canterbury Road, Box Hill. The new string instrument workshop and showroom have been purpose-built to ensure an excellent musical environment. The timber-lined space is both aesthetically and acoustically appealing.
Brenton and his assistant, Martin Welch, are practising violin and viola players and are passionate about sound. They attend to each instrument with the greatest of care. They set up every violin, viola and cello that the shop sells or repairs to ensure that they produce their best possible sound. All bow repairs and rehairs (including baroque bows) are carried out by our specialist bow-maker, Paul B. Shields.
