Tim Howells is a drummer based in Currambine. He has a MA in Music, a degree in Popular Music and is also a fully qualified music teacher. He has years of experience playing in bands, touring, recording and performing in live BBC radio sessions. Tim currently plays drums in a contemporary Blues/R&B/Funk band based in Perth.

Tim has been performing live since the age of fifteen. He has toured all around the UK and supported various artists such as Editors, James Yuill, Asobi Seksu, It Hugs Back and Pauline Williams (Faithless & Dido).
Tim has drummed live with various bands over the years including Eat Y’self Pretty, Tiniregor and Double Think. He has worked with Alabamaman and Speaker Says. Tim has also performed in musicals including The Wizard of Oz.
Tim has been recording since the age of sixteen. In the studio he has worked with producers such as Gavin Monaghan (Editors, The Twang, Nizlopi, Scott Matthews and Ocean Colour Scene). Tim’s recordings have been played on national radio BBC 6 Music, international radio in Spain and Germany (Radio FSK) and on local radio stations such as BBC Radio WM, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire and BBC Radio Shropshire. His music have been reviewed by various magazines, newspapers and online fanzines including NME, Channel 4 (CD of the week), BBC online and The Birmingham Post.
Tim has recorded drums for various bands including Alabamaman, Yasai and The Yam Yams and has programmed beats for Double Think. He has also recorded drums for a Birmingham Art Gallery Exhibition and an Oxford Brookes University sound installation. Tim has been releasing music for over ten years and has previously had records out on Heliotone Records, Brainlove Records and Matchbox Recordings.

Tim has an MA in Music, BA (Hons) in Music Culture, Theory and Production and a HND in Popular Music. In 2006 he went on to study for a teaching qualification and graduated in 2007 with a PGCE in Secondary Music.
Tim spent his first year teaching music in the classroom at a Secondary school as well as teaching as a part-time peripatetic at the same school. After completing his NQT year in 2008 Tim became a full-time peripatetic teacher. He went on to teach drums for a local music service for two years.
Tim is always pushing forward to improve his own skills and techniques both as a musician and as a teacher and has previously had drum lessons from the drum legend Steve White (Paul Weller, The Who, Oasis).
