I began my brass studies in 2000. I have performed in various state and national competitions every year till 2008 playing Trumpet, Cornet and Flugel horn.
In 2006 I won the Junior Trumpet section at the La Trobe Valley Eisteddfod, returning in 2007 to take the Charles Turner Memorial Shield for Junior Brass Champion on flugel. I Completed 8th grade AMEB in 2007.
I have competed at every National Junior Solo competition since Geelong except for Brisbane in 2006, coming 2nd or 3rd in each until winning the National Junior Flugel title in 2007.
I also play Viola, with extensive experience as an orchestral player. In 2005-7 I performed with the Border Music Camp senior orchestra, and toured central NSW with the Sydney Youth Orchestra in 2007. I received the Donald Hazelwood Award as the school’s top year 12 music performer for 2007 at The Scots School Albury.
My other musical interests include advanced choral performance and playing the bagpipes.
I qualified for early acceptance to study a Bachelor of Music at the Canberra School of Music on trumpet, and studied under Daniel Mendelow, principal trumpet of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
