The West Australian Music Teachers’ Association (Inc) is an independent and apolitical body. It is an incorporated professional association, not a union, nor a government body. The WA Music Teachers’ Association represents the interests of studio music teachers in the State of Western Australia.
The Association is run by an elected President, two Vice Presidents and a Council of 12 members, including a representative for members living in country areas. The Association operates according to its Constitution, which is periodically updated in keeping with current trends.
In Western Australia, there is no award or legislation which covers the activity of private music teaching in a home studio, or studio music teaching in schools or music schools. Nonetheless, the WA Music Teachers’ Association fulfils an important role in providing a scale of recommended minimum fees, a music teacher database and a programme of professional development. This is not only for Perth music teachers but for WA teachers too.
Some schools rely on our recommended fees.
