B. Ed (Sec music), A.Mus.A, Grad Cert A&E Management
I have over 20 years experience teaching woodwind at many schools, including Melbourne Grammar, Balwyn High School and Canterbury Girls’ SC. I currently coordinate the instrumental music program and teach woodwind at Monbulk College in the Dandenong Ranges.
I have extensive experience in teaching beginners and I have also successfully taught VCE Music Solo and Group Performance on Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone. Previous students who I have started as beginners are now studying music at tertiary level.
My aim is for students to develop a love of music through practice and performance of a wide range of syles on an instrument. I balance teaching good technique with developing aesthetics and an appreciation of music.
I listen and discuss with students their interests and help to guide them towards goals that we set together in lessons, such as performances, an audio recording as a gift or an external exam.
My lessons include: *All technical aspects of playing the instrument; *Learning to read music; *Repertoire in musical styles including classical, blues, pop, Celtic; *use of backing tracks; *CD recordings of your playing for you to take home; *Piano accompaniment and duets; *Exam preparation including AMEB and VCE.
Lesson fees for 2011: $30 per half hour, $45 per 45 mins.
