Zhu Xing Cao began clarinet studies five years ago, travelling far to his first teacher Jun Yang. After commencing lessons with Deborah de Graaff, he entered the Conservatorium Open Academy, Rising Stars Programme (2009). Gaining late-entry into the Conservatorium High School (2010), he performed as principal clarinet, was finalists in the CHAOS (CHS Alumni) Competition, CHS Concerto Competition finalist, 2MBS Young Performers Competition (2012, 2013) finalist, performed with Performing Arts Unit Symphonic Wind Ensemble, scholarship holder with SYO Wind Symphony, nominated for inclusion in the HSC Opera House ENCORE showcase and was awarded his AMUS on Clarinet.
Commencing BMus Performance (Sydney Conservatorium USYD, 2012) Zhu Xing has performed as principal clarinet in the Conservatorium Wind Symphony and Symphony orchestras (Britten’s War Requiem). In 2013 he performed as principal clarinet with SBS (Stravinsky’s Solder’s Tale – TV). He performed in Sydney masterclasses with Julian Bliss (U.K.), Professor Manfred Lindner (Würtsburg), Olivier Patey (Paris) and Nicolas Rodwell (London). In 2014 he continues performing with the Conservatorium Symphony, Modern Music Ensemble, Conductor’s Orchestra. His first professional engagement is in August 2014.
On completion of his music degree he wishes to pursue a career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player.
