88 Keys Piano Services is established by Hong Lam, a Sydney-based, Melbourne-trained, Singapore-born piano technician.
Hong is a graduate of the Australasian School of Piano Technology. He is a Yamaha Authorised Service Agent (completed Grand Piano Course at Yamaha Piano Technical Academy, Kakegawa Japan) and a Preferred Supplier for Kawai Australia. He is also a member of the Piano Technicians Guild, and is a certified Dampp-Chaser Piano Life Saver installer.
Hong's industry experience includes institutions such as Sydney Eistoddfod, the City Recital Hall, the Conservatorium of Music and the AMEB NSW. He has also tuned and serviced pianos at schools such as Radford College, Knox Grammar School, Trinity Grammar School, St Andrews Cathedral School, Ascham School and many more.
All of my tunings are concert performance-level tunings, done aurally to concert pitch. Every appointment includes a review of a review of your piano's condition, and I may recommend ways to make your piano sound and play better, and to last longer. I provide a service plan with regular reminders. Yamaha Piano Care work is accepted without a gap fee.
Besides piano tuning and servicing, I draw upon our extensive experience with preparing HSC and AMEB NSW examination pianos to offer examination-specific services.
I can tune and service your piano to make it sound and feel as similar as possible to examination pianos. The greater the similarity, the smaller the handicap when performing on examination pianos. I can also provide advice on upgrading pianos to suit a student's progression.
