A.J. started playing ukulele 30 years ago in Melbourne when “there were very few players in the whole of Australia”, learning specialist techniques from veterans of the ukulele hey-day of the 1920’s. He currently performs and conducts workshops at festivals across Australia and overseas.
Multi-instrumentalist and accomplished singer A. J. Leonard released his first ukulele-based album, Tales From the Tropics in 2009. It is an all original “melting pot of old and new, from traditional Hawaiian and Tin Pan Alley to Mancini-style and contemporary grooves”. A.J. has since released 10 more albums.
