About the Teacher
With 15 years of teaching experience in Australia and Europe, Raymond Shon has helped students achieve success in exams and auditions.
As a pianist, he has performed in concerts, broadcasts, and festivals around the world—Australia, Finland, the Netherlands, the UK, Italy, Greece, Germany, and France.
Raymond has been the recipient of many prestigious grants and scholarships, including an Australian Government Research Training Program that enabled him to complete a PhD at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
He was a grand-finalist at the 2022 Australian National Piano Award, where he was awarded the Max Cooke Encouragement Award.
Having spent time training with renowned concert artists such as Cristina Ortiz and Carlo Grante, Raymond sees the piano as an instrument for continual learning and growth and seeks to share this passion with all his students.
Teaching Philosophy
In our lessons, students gain the confidence and necessary skills to achieve success in performances, examinations (such as AMEB), competitions, and auditions for scholarships. Students leave their lessons inspired, motivated, and with a clear plan for what to do during their home practice between lessons.
