Bachelor of Music majoring in Performance
Alex McPherson is the owner and teacher at Pitt Town Guitar Studio and also a professional musician.
Alex began playing the guitar at the age of 12 and hasn’t looked backed since. Being taught by some of the best teachers and professional guitarist in Sydney, Alex is highly skilled and competent in many styles of guitar including rock, blues, jazz, funk, pop and several more. His main influences include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, The Foo Fighters, John Mayer, Eric Clapton and many more.
It is through his experiences of once being a student and also learning to be a teacher that Alex has developed his skills as teacher to ensure that he can help you achieve any goal you may have with learning the guitar.
When teaching students, Alex tries to break away from the established practices of “how guitar should be taught” and create a personally tailored course for each student. He believes that if you hear a guitarist do something that you like, you shouldn’t have to wait until your a ‘grade six guitarist’, you should be able to begin learning how you want to play the guitar from the get go!
While learning all these fun and exciting things on the guitar, Alex also ensures that his students also develop a firm knowledge of music theory, guitar maintenance and music appreciation. Alex is currently studying a Masters of Secondary Education at Western Sydney University and has recently completed his Bachelor of Music .
