Songwriting sessions with Alexander are structured to be relaxed and enjoyable , at the same time covering the essential information for you to develop real piano playing and songwriting skills.

During the sessions, areas covered include:

• song forms and styles

• song notation styles

• writing and recording melodies chords and rhythms/beats

• working with lyrics

• writing for a range of instruments including: piano, bass, guitar, drums, horns, strings and voice

• preparing for rehearsal and recording your songs

Alexander teaches using music software Ableton Live, and Logic Pro along with traditional notation methods such as pen and paper.

Alexander Nettelbeck is a classically trained musician and a graduate of the Victorian College Of The Arts. He has recorded and toured throughout Australia, Europe, Asia and New Zealand working with a diverse variety of groups and solo artists including Pete Hemsley’s Sons Of Invention, Kate Ceberano, Aleeoop, Deni Hines and with his own group, the Alexander Nettelbeck Trio.

As pianist/keyboardist, musical director and accompanist he has performed and recorded with bands and ensembles in many musical idioms from jazz, to rock, folk, electronic, swing, reggae, blues, soul, funk, r&b, bossa nova and world music.

Alexander’s music has featured in dance/ theatre productions, film, radio and television including Network Seven’s ‘All Saints’, SBS and ABC.

Lesson times: 1/2 hour, 45 minute and 1 hour lessons are available by appointment Monday-Saturday

All prospective students are required to have an initial lesson to determine their musical abilities and interests. A program for further development in piano will be then structured to meet the individual needs and requirements.
