Private Violin Lessons

Hi! My name is Amanda Chen and I am a professional violinist working permanently with the Opera Australia orchestra. I have also worked with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. I studied for 13 years with Alice Waten, an important figure in Australian string pedagogy. She is my inspiration for playing and for passing on my knowledge. I hold a Masters in Music Studies and Bachelor's of Music (performance) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

I teach the violin to people of all ages and levels (can follow the AMEB syllabus) and have 7 years of experience. I have worked at public and private schools around Sydney and the Arts Unit NSW. I am an encouraging teacher and want my students to enjoy the music that they play. I will always have the student's best interests at heart and help them achieve their potential. I have a kind and patient approach to my teaching while enforcing a strong technical foundation for violin playing and musical understanding.

My hourly rate is $100. I offer 30 min lessons for $50, 45 min lessons for $75 and one hour for $100. Cash is preferred, thank you. I teach at home in Yagoona.
