My name is Amanda Holley and I am a pre-service teacher enrolled into BEd(Sec) majoring in Music Education and Special Education in Brisbane, Australia. I swapped to this degree after doing a year at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music majoring in Performance on Orchestral Tuba. The transfer of degree programs was prompted by my lucky find of my passion to become an educator. It was also reinforced due to an injury I sustained whilst performing; stopping me from pursuing a career as a professional musician.

I am offering lessons on:

  • Tuba – Trombone – Trumpet – Euphonium

In addition to studying education I have also been member of a number of different ensembles at the Conservatorium such as Brass Ensemble, Tuba Ensemble, Brass Band, Wind Orchestra. This is in addition to my choral positions at the Queensland Kodaly Choir and St Aidan’s Community Choir.

I have also had a long relationship with the Queensland Youth Orchestra having engagements in the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Third and Second Youth Orchestras as well as the Queensland Youth Orchestra.

In regards to my teaching I have been called to teach for various camps and workshops in Brisbane including Kedron SS, Indooroopilly SS, Ironside SS and many combined workshops. In addition to this I have been called to conduct and teach at schools such as Kedron SS and St Aidan's Anglican Girls' School. As well as teaching in Brisbane I have been called to tutor at camps in Gladstone including the State Schools workshop (2012) and Gladstone Independent Schools Music Workshops (2011, 2012 and returning in 2013), in addition to this I have tutored at Rockhampton Grammar School in both the primary and secondary schools at their workshops in 2013.

I believe that music should be both informative and fun, regardless of age. I believe that I will be able to point my students in a direction that will allow them to do whatever they please with their music, whether that be endeavoring further education or joining community ensembles.

I am also regularly called to augment and tutor at workshops and take sectionals in both local and regional contexts.

I can be easily contacted via email if you would like to discuss my teaching practices or arrange an initial lesson.

I have a current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis, CPR and Blue Card.
