Bachelor of Music (Classical Piano), Diploma of Education (Music), Orff Schuwerk Level 1 Certificate, Currently enrolled in Master of Music (Music Education) research degree
—> Education and Experience
I am a graduate of the ANU School of Music, where I studied a Bachelor of Music in classical piano under the tuition of Dr. Geoffrey Lancaster and the mentorship of Larry Sitsky and Susanne Powell from 2005-2008.
Since 2009 I have worked prolifically as an accompanist, piano teacher and classroom educator on the Far South Coast. During this time I completed a Diploma of Education in Secondary Music. I taught classroom music at two schools with students of all ages. My curriculum focused on developing aural and performance skills through singing, movement and listening activities as well as collaborative ensemble activities.
I was the accompanist to a large choir for 3 years and have also performed regularly as an accompanist for several local musicians.
—> Teaching Philosophy
I am passionate about music education and enjoy teaching pupils of all ages and levels of experience. My goal is to teach the ‘whole musician’. This means inspiring and empowering my students to enjoy a lifetime of playing, experiencing and appreciating music by building a solid foundation in musicianship and healthy and ergonomic piano technique in a fun and caring environment.
I believe that creating opportunities for my pupils to perform and share their music with others is vital. I host regular student concerts and also offer preparation for AMEB Pianoforte and Piano for Leisure exams from preliminary to grade 8, AMus & LMus.
I am currently undertaking a Masters of Music (Music Education) by research at the University of Sydney.
Please contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
