Always wanted you or your kids to learn how to play the clarinet? Well heres your chance!
I’m Amy Sellars and I am a young, fun clarinet teacher who can help your child reach their next level of musical brilliance.
I strive to make all my lessons engaging, productive, specific to each indivdual student and most importantly FUN!
Just some of the things you can learn include: fundamental and technical playing requirements, sight reading and notation ie. how to read music, using solfege, how to play songs by ear (meaning you are taught how to recognize by hearing-aurally-and thus you acquire one of the most valued skills among musicians, the ability to play any song, in any key and with little or no prior notice!), how to improve your aural listening skills, music theory, and much more!
Repertoire ranges from basic beginner pieces, nursery rhymes, themes from movies and musicals, through to jazz standards (think Sonny Rollins, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington) with playalong cds, duets, as well as pieces by Australian composers and repertoire off the AMEB syllabus such as pieces by Lachlan Davidson, Barry Cockcroft and James Rae among others. I am happy to guide my students through any music they wish to play whether it be classical, jazz, popular, musical theatre based, AMEB exam repertoire or others! I have successfully taken many students through a range of AMEB exams with strong results.
Most importantly I aim for my students to both set and acheive their own personal goals for their music development, and to enjoy learning and discovering the wonderful world that is music!
Lesson times and location are negotiable- I’m happy to come to you if you’re in the city or north east of Melbourne, and am also available for group lessons or to teach at primary schools (as long as the location is in the area that I teach in).
Please contact me via email if you have any questions or wish to express your interest in learning Clarinet!
