Hi, my name is Andre, nice to meet you! I have been teaching saxophone and playing professionally for over 10 years. I have a bachelor of Music (Jazz performance) at Monash University studied under Head of Music Rob Burke. In my career thus far, I have played both nationally in the Melbourne music scene and festivals such as the Melbourne Jazz Festival, Bello Winter Music Festival, Groovin the Moo, and internationally in New York, Japan and Hong Kong. Additionally, I have played with Jazz legends including Bob Sedergreene (AU), Sandy Evans (AU), Vijay Iyer (US) and Tim Lin (US).
As a music educator, I believe it is important to be both a player and a teacher. Only then can a teacher have a full understanding of how to best teach when they are themselves a practitioner of the highest level.
I am extremely passionate about teaching saxophone and music to both kids and adults alike. I want to make sure that lessons are engaging, instructional and fun. Every student learns differently, and I like to cater my lessons to each student's strengths, interests and development. Every lesson I will ensure that we revise previous skills/topics, as well as learn new material to make sure we are progressing and maintaining engagement in our lessons.
Our lessons can be any of the following:
Beginner students playing for the first time
AMEB/ABRSM Exams
VCE Students
Adult students learning songs as a hobby
Intermediate students looking to improvise
Advance students looking to build their technical facility and Jazz language
Anything in between!
Whether you’re looking for lesson for your child, or you’re looking to finally learn saxophone after all those years, please contact me on 0411 323 822 or email andrelew95@gmail.com to have a chat. Looking forward to hearing from you!
