Andrew Perkins is a professional Composer, Musicologist and fully qualified Secondary School Teacher who has held HOD Music positions at two of New Zealand’s prestigious schools (Senior College and Baradene College of the Sacred Heart). During this time he was also Music Director and Cantor for the Auckland Catholic Music Schola for 13 years. The Schola specialised in the performance of Gregorian plainchant and Renaissance polyphony within the context of the Roman Catholic Mass, the music carefully chosen to compliment the Readings of the day, During 1991-92, Andrew Perkins was Composer in Residence with the Auckland Philharmonia. He is currently a casual staff member at Melbourne University’s Music Department, teaching Harmony and Counterpoint and Composition. Andrew graduated from Melbourne University in 2013 with the degree of PhD (Composition).
