I teach anyone from new beginners (minimum age 7yrs) to mature re-starters how to enjoy playing music; lessons are adventures in self discovery. I cover all musical styles to make it interesting at the same time as developing technique, style, sensitivity, interpretation and understanding.
Before starting with a new pupil I spend some time assessing and discussing aims and interests to make sure we can form a partnership within which music can grow.
I obtained my qualifications from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the UK during the late 1960s.
I charge $35 for half an hour and $70 for a full hour.
I teach correct technique, rhythm and musicianship.
Every pupil will go away from their lesson with something new
to practice for next time. I will let you know which books you need for lessons; a piano or keyboard at home for practice is all you need. Although AMEB examinations are not 'compulsory' some people like to have them to look forward to so I will guide you through the process so that you will hopefully do well.
For 'mature resumers':
If you have always wanted to play the piano or maybe you learned years ago and have decided to take it up again. Either way I can help you enjoy the process. Talk to me about what you would like to achieve and I will tailor something for you.
If you would like to give a friend a piano lesson or two as a gift speak to me about a voucher.
