Yitzhak

Dr Yedid has been acclaimed as one of the world’s leading composers of third stream music. A master pianist and shrewd composer, he has multiple awards to his name. In 2009 he received the Israeli Landau Prize for contribution to Jazz, and in 2006 he was awarded the prestigious Israeli Prime Minister’s Prize for Classical Composers. He also won first prize at the International Oud Festival in Israel for his composition “Oud Bass Piano Trio”.

Inspired by literature, philosophy, art and landscapes,

Yedid’s compositions form a narrative of pictures, textures and colors. His music combines classical genres with free modern improvisation and Eastern and Jewish music styles, breaking out of defined frameworks to produce a unique and original sound
.

Yedid has performed at Jordan Hall in Boston and Carnegie Hall in NewYork.

He has performed his compositions with his Yedid Ensemble in festivals and venues across Europe, Canada, the USA, Asia and Africa. His music has received hundreds of reviews in the international media.
“Yedid integrated specific stylistic influences into a personal created unity. The manner in which he describes folkloristic influences and melancholic specific themes can remind of Bela Bartok; improvisatory float of
hovering à la Keith Jarret”. Åke Holmquist, Norra Skåne (Sweden). He has 11 international CD released by labels: Challenge Records International, Sony, btl, Muse, MCI, and
Kaleidos.

Since 2007 he is resident of Australia.
