  • Masters of Performance Teaching (ongoing)

Athaya is a current student at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music completing her Masters of Performance Teaching. Through performances with the university, Athaya has enjoyed performing in venues such as the Melbourne Recital Centre, Hamer Hall and Sidney Myer Music Bowl alongside the University of Melbourne’s Symphony Orchestra as well as through programs such as MSO’s Symphony in a day.

Starting her violin journey at the age of 4, Athaya began her studies through the Suzuki Method. Having graduated up to Suzuki Grade 7, Athaya transitioned to the Australian Music Examination Board with her move to Melbourne, continuing her violin studies through high school. Through AMEB, Athaya passed her Grade 6-8 exams with an A+ grade as well as a distinction in her AmusA exam. Alongside her grade exams, Athaya enjoyed playing in the Western Australian Youth Orchestra in Perth before playing with her high school chamber ensemble and Australian New Goldberg Orchestra in Melbourne.

After graduating her Bachelor's in 2023, Athaya continues to be a dedicated and aspiring teacher by currently studying a Masters of Performance Teaching, to be able to further support and encourage her students. She continues to perform with her quartet and trio, playing at weddings, events and in studios often, reflecting her passion and love for the violin and performance.

Through her personal experience as a player, Athaya hopes to pass down to her students the confidence she hopes they can have in their own playing. She believes in providing a nurturing and warm environment with positive encouragement to push them to strive for the better. She understands the importance of each students varying needs and is experienced in providing a tailored lesson plan to accommodate, as well as focussing on a sound technique and developing their individual musicality. Athaya welcomes students of all ages and abilities and is happy to teach for exams or for leisurely playing!
