BACKGROUND HISTORY of Barry M. Wilkins:

A "bush boy", born in Bourke, and living the first seven years of his life in Tibooburra, Barry's family moved to Broken Hill in 1965.
Whilst living in BROKEN HILL N.S.W., Barry was awarded a Piano Scholarship in 1966 to study at the State Conservatorium of Music in Sydney. Barry successfully auditioned under the watchful eyes of Sir Bernard Heinze and Alexander Sverjensky, who afterward issued the following report, dated 26th April 1966:

"Today, Mr Alexander Sverjensky and I, examined Master Barry Wilkins in the matter of his musical ear.
We are united in the fact that Barry has most marked musical gifts which deserve to be developed under well-informed musical guidance.
So far, what he is able to do, is in many senses, remarkable."

Upon being notified of the awarding of the scholarship, Barry's father made arrangements to move to Sydney where he finally took up the scholarship in Term One 1968 under the guidance of Cornelia Brain.

Barry has been privileged to have studied under some very fine teachers, including Marjorie Hesse, Josephine Bell, Mack Jost, Annette Stillwell O.A.M., Paul Rickard-Ford and Clara Skriptschenko. Each of them helped develop and extend Barry's pianism and appreciation of the finer points of musicianship and performance practices of the Piano.

Barry is indebted to each and every one of these fine educators and as a result he is able to draw upon, and bring to EACH student's lesson, a wealth of experience and know-how.

Now living in the City of Penrith, Barry offers a professional standard of Piano tuition and instruction to pupils of all ages and at all levels; from beginners, or beginning again, through the A.M.E.B. Grades to H.S.C. and DIPLOMA students. Exams or no exams, the choice is yours.

Adult students wishing to take the A.M.E.B. PIANO for LEISURE stream are most welcome.
