Mobile Guitar Lessons
A highly qualified music educator, Ben completed a Bachelor of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and is now completing a Master of Teaching at the University of Melbourne. Ben has been playing guitar for twenty years and teaching for ten years.
Two styles of lessons are offered.
1. Traditional Classical Style Lessons
Students play a nylon string classical guitar using the traditional finger picking technique. Reading music notation. Emphasis on technique and sound production. Listening to and playing classical guitar repertoire from a range of places and times (Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Twentieth Century, Jazz, Flamenco, World Music).
Dedicated school aged students would be able to study classical music at a university after approximately three to five years of lessons.
2. Contemporary Style Lessons
Student plays a steel string acoustic or electric guitar and uses a plectrum and finger picking techniques.
Learning by ear (Learning from recordings). Exploring styles from a range of places and times (Pop, Folk, Rock, Blues, Funk, Reggae, R&B, Country, Swing, Gypsy, Fusion)
Practical application of music theory and music reading to inform performing, improvising and composing.
Dedicated school aged students would be able to study jazz or contemporary music at a university after approximately three to five years of lessons.
