Hi, my name is Ben, and I’m a professional trombonist and music tutor. I recently resigned from my overseas position to pursue an academic path with music here in Melbourne. I formerly studied at the Australian National Academy of Music, and completed a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of music in 2011.
I have been playing trombone for over 14 years, and engaged professionally with numerous orchestras including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra.
I am primarily a classical trombonist, though in my early years of playing I performed in jazz bands. I have taught multiple brass instruments for over 5 years; working with school band programs, workshops, as well as privately from my home, in between my work as a freelance musician.
I cater to all ages and will adapt my teaching method to individual needs. I have taught people from all levels of education and musical interest in the past, from those who were starting out or pursuing a hobby, to those who would like to consider music professionally.
