Make music and the arts a part of you/your child's life. Friendly and enthusiastic piano teacher, providing a relaxed learning environment and specialising in teaching the music you listen to and love. I am fully qualified, experienced (15+ years) and eager to share my love for music, whether you just want to play for fun or at the highest level.
My qualifications include a Bachelor of Music(Jazz) from WAAPA and Graduate Diploma of Education(Music) from UWA.
As well as piano and keyboard lessons I also provide instruction on music theory, beginner vocals and music production/song writing.
I am a professional musician with 20 years experience in playing many styles of contemporary music including Jazz, Blues, Soul, Pop/RnB, and Rock. I've been fortunate in my career to share the stage with some fine musicians and perform at venues across Australia and occasionally overseas. Whilst my performing schedule keeps me busy I also greatly value the time I have to spend with my students. I have always found teaching to be a natural partner to performing. I feel it is highly important to pass on the knowledge and skills I have acquired, the world needs more music!
My studio is ideally located in Victoria Park where I live with my wife and two young sons. Across the road is a lovely park and playground that can be useful for occupying younger siblings during lessons. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons.
My piano lessons are tailored to my students specific needs but may include: aural training (playing by ear), improvisation, chord technique, learning to read music, sight-reading, as well as traditional methods such as learning from a method book. I love it when students come to me with specific pieces they want to learn.

KIDS THAT STUDY MUSIC DO BETTER AT SCHOOL!
ScienceDaily (Mar. 16, 2009) "Children exposed to a multi-year programme of music tuition involving training in increasingly complex rhythmic, tonal, and practical skills display superior cognitive performance in reading skills compared with their non-musically trained peers, according to a study published in the journal Psychology of Music."
