Ben Oldham

Hello there!

My name is Ben and first and foremost, I am a trumpet enthusiast, educator and performer. I have recently graduated from the Griffith Conservatorium with Honours for my degree in jazz music performance, Bachelor in Music (BMus) and I want to help you become the best you!

I have 6 years of teaching experience now and my approach to music education is calm, explorative and respectful. I am committed to teaching and serving avid students as my teachers did before me. They taught me valuable lessons - some of which are not always related to music!

I offer specialised assistance with theory, range, technique and performance anxiety! Whether it’s classical music, Latin music, show tunes or jazz, I can offer a blend of academic and practical expertise.

With help from brass bands to high school bands, youth symphonies, jazz big bands, jazz combos, orchestra pits and now touring pop bands and recording artists, I have played in venues and events such as the pre-entertainment live show at Suncorp Stadium for the Brisbane Broncos, the Lord Mayors gala ball, CMC Rocks and Groundwater country music festivals with BLAKE O'CONNOR, the Brisbane Convention centre, Caloundra Music Festival, Beach Hotel @ Byron Bay with BULLHORN, Princess Theatre, Felons brewing hall, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Brisbane Jazz Club, Jazz Music Institute, the West end Jazz club and the Doobop jazz bar.

Whether it’s your first time picking the trumpet up, or you’re learning it this year at school or you have been learning for a while, I’m qualified and ready to help you chase your goals!
