I recently moved to Australia with my wife after 6 years living in Berlin. We now live in Brisbane because she was recently appointed section principal bassist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
I enjoyed a very busy time in Europe playing with some of the leading orchestras there and studying in one of the best music schools in Germany.
I played in the Staatskapelle Berlin for four years, under the baton of Daniel Barenboim, where i was part of the Orchestra Academy for two years, and subsequently i was invited back to join the section regularly. I was also invited to play many times as a guest principal especially for programs which comprised of contemporary music, which is one of my passions and specialties. During my time with the Staatskapelle Berlin I worked with amazing conductors and musicians such as Gustavo Dudamel, Zubin Mehta, Antonio Pappano, Martha Argerich, Lisa Batiashvili, Sol Gabeta, Renaud Capucon among others.
I also performed many times with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra as a guest principal as well as a section player, with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, the Netherlands Philharmonic in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, the Komische Oper Berlin and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra among others.
I have degrees from the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia; and the Hochschule fur Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin where i studied with the professors Janne Saksala, Axel Scherka and Esko Laine.
I am a passionate educator and I would love to share some of the amazing experiences that I have had overseas with all of you.
I look forward to hearing from you!
