Hello, piano lesson seeker! Let me tell you a bit about myself, and what to expect from lessons with me.
I have a Bachelor of Music from the Qld Conservatorium, and I've been teaching piano for 14 years. I taught piano in private schools for a decade, but nowadays prefer the peace and coziness of teaching from my home studio.
I want my students to have the best opportunity to succeed at learning piano, and to be given the tools to play expressively with musicality and flair.
I carefully scaffold my students learning so that they are able to play lots and lots and lots of pieces, not just "3 pieces a year for the exam." This allows them to develop the skills to become independent musicians, as well as preparing them to confidently sail through exams, should they wish to sit them, with most of my students getting a result of B+, A, or A+.
I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to make learning easy, enjoyable and rewarding, and teach with 2 acoustic pianos (upright for beginners, grand piano for late intermediate level onwards) so I can play duets with students and demonstrate tone, dynamics, rhythm, co-ordination and articulation.
I also have a well-established YouTube channel - http://www.youtube.com/PianoWithBeth - that has become a reference point for piano students all over the world.
I have a lot of experience working with all age groups, but one of my special interests is working with adult beginners. Learning piano can be so rewarding, and wonderful for cognitive and mental health as well. Please don't be concerned that you're "too old" - I've taught people of all ages, and you will be far from my first non-school aged student!
And now to the fun bit - the cost.
2 x 30 minute lessons per week (both taken by the same student) - $75
1 x 45 minute lesson per week - $60
1 x 30 minute lesson per week - $45
My rate for two 30 minute lessons per week is a more than 15% discount on my single lesson rate, and is a great option for beginners to get them off to a great start.
