I am employed as a piano teacher at St Peters Lutheran College in Indooroopilly, as well as offering piano lessons from my home studio in Annerley. I have a Bachelor of Music, 12 years experience teaching piano, and I continually seek out new professional development opportunities to keep my qualifications up to date and my teaching ideas fresh. I want my students to have the best opportunity to succeed at learning piano, and to be given the tools to play expressively with musicality and flair.
I carefully scaffold my students learning so that they are able to play lots and lots and lots of pieces, not just "3 pieces a year for the exam." This allows them to develop the skills to become independent musicians, as well as arming them with a skillset that allows them to easily sail through exams, should they wish to sit them, with most of my students getting a result of B+, A, or A+.
I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to make learning as easy and enjoyable as possible, and teach with 2 acoustic pianos (upright for beginners, grand piano for late intermediate level onwards) so I can play duets with students and demonstrate tone, dynamics, rhythm, co-ordination and articulation.
I also have a well-established YouTube channel (youtube.com/PianoWithBeth) that is a reference point for piano students all over the world.
***** Normally my studio is full, but I've recently moved suburbs and lost a few students in the process, particularly in the straight out of school time slots. Get in quick to secure these coveted lesson times - they won't last long. I'm a two minute walk away from Junction Park State School.
