I graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2015 majoring in performance in French horn. Since then I have gone on to study post graduate psychology at the University of Sydney and am currently completing a research masters through the University of Wollongong Graduate School of Medicine.
I am passionate about music and music education, particularly in rural areas. I am currently the manager of the Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra and am working hard to afford rural kids the same opportunities in music as kids from major metropolitan areas.
I apply fundamentals from my studies in psychology to my teaching practices and like to keep up to date with teaching techniques specific to horn and music generally. I believe it is imperative that students begin with the right technique, and it is the responsibility of parents and caters to find a teacher that can apply fundamental techniques appropriately and with experienced knowledge for that specific instrument.
I have performed as Principal horn of the:
Sydney Metropolitan Orchestra
Sydney Youth Orchestra
Sydney Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra
North Sydney Youth Orchestra
NSW Youth Orchestra
As well as freelancing for numerous orchestras in Sydney and the Illawarra
I have tutored horn for:
Sydney Scotts College
NSW Arts unit orchestras
Lewisham public school
As well as privately tutoring numerous students over the past seven years.
I am Based in Wollongong.
I can offer tuition for :
- Beginner, intermediate and advanced horn
- Beginner and intermediate brass
My tuition also offers a strong base in music theory, correct playing technique, both
solo and orchestral performance etiquette, and general musical principals and theory.
