Cello lessons are provided at all three locations by specialist string teachers.
One of our specialists is Anneliese McGee-Collett. She started learning the cello and the piano at the age of six. Her passion for cello was discovered while playing in numerous orchestral and chamber groups at a girls’ school in Sydney. There, she had the privilege to play with the likes of musicians such as the Baroque specialist Neil Peres Da Costa and learn composition techniques from prolific Australian composers like Stephen Leek and Paul Jarman.
During this time, she also played in an orchestra of the Sydney Youth Orchestra organisation and had the chance to play in a group providing backing strings for the band Jo Meares & the Honeyriders in their album One More Time. More recently she has also enjoyed recording backing strings for the likes of Paul Kelly and Australian hip hop artist Pez.
Anneliese has also had the pleasure of playing cello in the pit orchestra for Canberra productions including West Side Story and Phantom of the Opera.
Commencing her tertiary studies at the Australian National University in 2011, Anneliese is now enjoying her third year of a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Laws degree, studying cello with David Pereira. In 2011, she was awarded her AMusA diploma in cello and joined the classical trio Dolce.
At the beginning of 2012 she started teaching cello and piano to students of all ages, and has just recently started to play the ukulele and the banjo.
