Carly Owen - Soprano
I started singing from as soon as I could talk (or maybe I sung first). I grew up in Bangor, North Wales, a country passionate for singing, where my true passion for singing thrived. I was lucky to be surrounded by such talent, musicality and the opportunities I had. From as young as I can remember I was singing at the National Eisteddfods in Wales and performing on live TV.
I eventually started my training at the age of sixteen at Redroofs Theatre School, London - and soon after I joined a girl band called "Red Blooded Women" an electro-pop girl group touring the UK and overseas. I then continued my training in Musical Theatre at Montview Academy of Theatre Arts, London graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma. Upon graduating I was offered a Lead Vocalist contract with Royal Caribbean International Cruises.
My singing career changed in my mid-twenties when I decided to continue training my voice classically, which led me to study at the prestigious Royal College of Music, London where I graduated with a Masters in Vocal Performance. I finally completed my operatic training at The National Opera Studio, London.
In 2018 I was offered a contract to be the Lead Soprano at the Theater und Orchestra Heidelberg for two years, singing many operatic leading roles: Gilda (Rigoletto), Pamina (The Magic Flute), Hannah Glawari (The Merry Widow), Ilia (Idomeneo), Marzelline (Fidelio).
I have worked for UK opera companies - Welsh National Opera ad Diva Opera Uk.
I am a Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto alumna and have performed in masterclasses with world renowned singers and conductors: Dame Gwyneth Jones, Dame Anne Evans, Angela Gheorghiu, Carmen Giannattasio and Maestro Richard Bonynge.
I won the 2017 London Welsh Young Singer of the Year and Audience prize and was then invited as a finalist in the 2018 Welsh Singers Showcase, performing at St David's Hall with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Vocal Coach and Instructor
I have had a varied international career working within many genres of music and having learnt from the best - now is the time for me to share this knowledge.
Having worked and trained across many genres, I have been lucky to learn various singing techniques - Speech Level Singing, Estill Vocal Training, Accent Method Breathing and Bel Canto. I am of the belief not one size fits all with singing and in my own professional development I personally improved by exploring and finding what works for me and this is the approach I take with my students.
As a vocal coach and instructor, I believe that it is fundamental to have a solid technique, no matter what genre, as this is the springboard into singing successfully long term with ease, enjoyment and maintaining good vocal health. I can help bring out that inner performer in you and give you all the tools to keep your audiences engaged! I am passionate that my lessons be fun and informative for all ages.
