Carmen Young has had considerable success as a solo artist. She has been the recipient of many national awards including the David Harper Award, The Alliance Francaise Award, and the Opera Australia Award. In 2005 and 2007 Carmen won First Place at the Sydney Eisteddfod, and in 2009 she was awarded the Australian Day Special Achievement Award for Music Excellence. She has competed in the heats, semi-final and finals of the Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship and the Australian Singing Competition in which she is the youngest contestant to have reached the Finals. She has worked with Australian greats such as Richard Bonynge, Myer Fredman, David Harper, Sharolyn Kimmorley and Michael Curtain.
