Cassie Whitehead is a saxophone specialist, educator and performer. She is currently saxophone tutor at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) and runs the Instrumental Music program and bands at St Ignatius Primary School Toowong. With fifteen years teaching experience, she loves helping students find their joy in music. She is particularly proud of the Instrumental Music program at St Ignatius which consistently enjoys an almost 100% retention rate of students between the compulsory year 5 program into the elective year 6 program. She is equally as comfortable teaching jazz improvisation and contemporary music as she is with enrolling students in AMEB exams and everything in between, catering lessons around the preference of the student.

Cassie graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz Saxophone and is a sought after saxophonist within the Brisbane jazz scene. She has also studied at New York University and won the Magnetic Island Jazz Festival Award. As a performer, Cassie has regularly toured internationally and nationally including many tours of New Zealand on the summer festival circuit and sold out shows throughout Australia and New Zealand. As saxophonist, co-songwriter and manager of reggae/soul/funk outfit Paua, Cassie has played some of New Zealand's biggest music festivals and the largest reggae festival in the Southern Hemisphere, sharing the stage with the likes of UB40, Julian Marley, Steel Pulse, Ky-Mani Marley, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Maxi Priest, Six60, Katchafire and L.A.B.

She has recorded with a range of artists as a session musician in many genres and worked as a horn arranger on a variety of projects. Cassie's songwriting credits, recording and horn arrangement work include many singles and albums with her band Paua that have reached number one on the iTunes Reggae charts in Australia and New Zealand and charted in the Top 100 in New Zealand. Some of the albums she has recorded on include 'Paua' - Paua, 'Sometimes' - Paua, 'For the People' - Paua, 'Bass & Bassinets' - Tomorrow People, ‘Arkism’ – Arkism, 'At First Sight' - Bec Laughton, 'Celebrating Women in Music' - Yas Queen, and a range of singles.
