Hey I'm Chev, I'm a singing teacher based in Coburg. I'm a songwriter with 7 years experience performing and writing solo and in bands on keyboard and vocals.
I have a Bachelor of Contemporary Music and Performance, where I gained a grounding in vocal technique, music theory and aural training.
Depending on the needs and desires of the student, I can incorporate some theory and aural training into the lessons, as I think it's really helpful for a vocalist when it comes to interpreting, communicating and writing musical ideas. I think it's great to have a balance of theoretical understanding and intuitive feel!
I also think it's important to understand a student's relationship to music and to focus on the mental side of things alongside the technical side. I try to make every student feel at ease, and aim to identify any mental blocks to be gently worked through so an individual's unique voice can come through.
