Piano Lessons

Christopher's aim as a teacher is to not only share the joy of music to his students, but also to learn equally as much or more as a student is. As he strongly believes that the concept of learning corresponds with the developmental process of teachers and students, he is able to understand students further through their development and to encourage students to embrace their creativity in music making and performance.
Music plays such an important role in not only uniting people through an acceptance and gratification of knowledge, but also to grant each individual a voice and to follow their passions.

Christopher welcomes incorrect notes with an open heart and mind. Without mistakes, there is no room for growth.
He introduces aural and written skills and technology to help unlock the hidden creativities in his students.
While he enjoys teaching students at an AMEB level in Classical piano, he is delighted to teach in other types of genres or from those learning for leisure.

Chris is able to teach at his private studio and at students' houses (travelling fees apply depending on area). He has a Yamaha Upright and a Boston GP-178 Grand in his studio. His focus areas in teaching include:

Poco Poco, John Thompsons and Alfred's methods for beginners
Russian Piano Technique - to develop on finger strength with certain exercises
Aural Training, Sight Reading, Music Theory and Musicianship
Exam Preparation (VCE, AMEB, ABRSM)
Developing on practice methods and routines for students
Stylistic and harmonic understanding
