Clare Carrick began to play the violin when she was six years old. She has now completed her Bachelor of Music (Performance) with Honours, and a Masters in Music Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. In 2000, Clare also received her AMusA with distinction. Clare has travelled extensively, performing with various orchestras and chamber ensembles. From 2006-2007 the Greenway quartet were offered a full scholarship to participate in an exchange to the Freiburg Hochschule of Music, Germany, and the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, where they studied with Sylwie Altenburger (Freiburg) and Christopher Rowland (Manchester). Clare has also travelled with the Greenway Quartet to Graz, Austria, to participate in the Graz International Chamber Music Festival (2006); Melbourne, to compete in the finals of the Australasian Chamber Music Competition (2005); and Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou to perform for Sydney University (2005, 2009). Clare has been involved with many recordings for ABC Classic FM, 2MBS FM, and ‘Australian Story’ (ABC) with the Greenway String Quartet and ARCO. Clare performs regularly with the Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Sinfonia program, and ARCO chamber orchestra (under the leadership of Patrick Murphy), and has also performed with the Australia Ensemble (2008), Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (2006), and the Omega Ensemble (2007). In Sydney, where Clare lived until September 2011, Clare taught violin at the prestigious boys school Newington College, and also privately at home. Since moving to Melbourne, Clare has played regularly with the MSO, and has has also developed her own teaching studio at her home in Coburg.
